Saturday morning breakfast at my house is a relaxing time in the kitchen. On YouTube are wonderful piano arrangements of worship songs which are relaxing to have playing in the background as I cook. God shows me in subtle ways messages of how my spirit is suppose to be and on this day I am to be relaxed and slow. I tried twice to find piano arrangements that were faster in melody, but each time I found the ones that were slow and steady. Years ago, I would be annoyed at a slow pace, but now I see it as a refreshing way to live.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake" (Psalm 23:1-3).

Memories of my grandmother consume my mind on Saturday mornings too, as she had a griddle in the middle of her stove similar to the one shown in the picture of this blog post. I would get on a stool so I was tall enough to participate in the breakfast making. She made little pancakes, which she called silver dollar pancakes. Our cooking secret she would tell me, is a little butter makes everything taste better. Once the pancakes were ready we would place little small pieces of butter between each one to melt --- butter does make everything taste better! The cooking memories of my grandmother are so wonderful, however she taught me an eternal truth -- Jesus loves me. I remember I would ask her, so Jesus loves me no matter if I make mistakes? Yes. So, He loves me if I am mean sometimes? Yes. She taught me the value of memorizing scripture, the importance of reading the Bible each day and praying all the time. Today, I get to pass along the very same truths to the girls I teach in Sunday School, while we don't get to cook together -- every week I teach them how to find and read scripture, the importance of prayer, and  the Bible is always true.

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" (Matthew 6:26)

We all have something to offer the world -- God places us all here for a purpose to share His love with others. As we approach the return of Christ, may we be eager to share our eternal salvation with others. --MC
